The Carse in Bloom group, established in early 2010, is working to improve the quality of the environment for local residents and visitors to the villages of St Madoes and Glencarse, through horticultural activity, encouraging environmental responsibility and community engagement.
The work of the group is carried out by a group of dedicated and enthusiastic local residents, all of whom have volunteered their time (and expertise!) to help make the villages cleaner, brighter and better places to live and visit.
The group is part of the Take a Pride in Perthshire campaign (www.prideinperthshire.org) and receives an annual grant from Perth & Kinross Council, but we also rely on donations and sponsorship from local residents and businesses to help make our funds go further and enable us to make a real difference to our surroundings. To help raise funds, we hold a number of different fundraising events throughout the year.
The group is formally constituted and is run by a Committee with four Office Bearers.
Chair – Frank Kehoe
Secretary – Gillian Harrower
Treasurer –Fiona Ross

Committee meetings to discuss and plan our forthcoming activities are held approximately every two months, normally at the Glencarse Hotel.
Become a Volunteer - We are always looking for keen and enthusiastic volunteers to help with specific projects. This might include planting bulbs, helping with our annual litter pick, distributing leaflets and fliers etc. If you’d like to give something back to your local community, please get in touch with Frank Kehoe (details below)
Join the Committee - If you’d like a more ‘formal’ role, then new committee members are also most welcome. Gardening expertise, although helpful, is not a prerequisite! Of more importance is a willingness to give a little time and effort to helping improve your local environment.
Sponsor a Planter -Help make our funds go further and add some colour to your local village by sponsoring a planter. We are actively seeking sponsorship from individuals, families, businesses and local groups. The cost of sponsoring one planter for a whole year is just £35. This covers the planter and the plants, and is a great way of giving something back to the local community. Sponsorship can be acknowledged by way of a name plaque on your individual planter, although this, of course, is optional.
Make a Donation - Collection boxes have been placed in Glencarse Hotel, St Madoes Bowling Club, Premier Stores and Glencarse Store. All donations to the group will be very gratefully received.
Take Part in Fundraising Activities - We have already held a number of very successful fundraising events, including a Car Boot Sale and Quiz Night, coffee morning which together raised over £1200. Further events are planned over the coming months – see local posters or check back here for more details. For further details on any of the above opportunities, please contact us.
